« Le sport comme principe, objectif et outil éducatif »

Opération Marathons Planétaires va « lancer » William à fin février 2025 sur le Marathon du Sahara qui est un évènement sportif international visant à démontrer la solidarité avec le peuple sahraoui et à promouvoir l’activité sportive chez les jeunes. Les frais d’inscription sont destinés à différents projets humanitaires.

Le marathon aura lieu près de Tindouf, sur le territoire algérien, à une courte distance du Sahara Occidental et de la Mauritanie dans des camps de réfugiés sahraouis. Le parcours relie symboliquement les trois camps de Smara, Auserd et ElAyoun et mène les coureurs à travers un désert qui abrite des réfugiés depuis 42 ans.

Courir dans l’un des déserts les plus hostiles du monde sera pour William non seulement un bon entraînement pour préparer l’UltraMirage en septembre 2025 (100km en une seule étape dans le désert tunisien) mais surtout une expérience humaine inoubliable !

“Sport as principle, objective and educational tool”

Opération Marathons Planétaires will “launch” William at the end of February 2025 on the Sahara Marathon, which is an international sporting event aimed at demonstrating solidarity with the Saharan people and promoting sporting activity among young people. Registration fees will be donated to various humanitarian projects.

The marathon will take place near Tindouf, on Algerian territory, a short distance from the Western Sahara and Mauritania refugee camps. The course symbolically links the three camps of Smara, Auserd and ElAyoun and takes runners through a desert that has been home to refugees for 42 years.

For William, running in one of the world’s most hostile deserts will not only be good training for the UltraMirage in September 2025 (100km in a single stage in the Tunisian desert), but above all an unforgettable human experience!
